Shep was a friend to many people and I will always have pleasant memories, One that sticks in my mind and will be recognised by many others, when he used to dance to a song Tie my kangaroo down Sport we used to replace the word sport to shep.He wore what we called beetle crushers (shoes) he used to show his shoes whilst doing the dance, every time the place would be in an uproar with laughter. I remember this so well when he did it on my bachelor night in Hemsworth, He stood on the table to rapturous applause -but this was his norm. Pleasant memories of Shep. Esmond Smith.
